Bogus Gateway max Orders

Topic summary

Issue: A developer reports hitting an error when using Shopify’s Bogus Gateway (test payment gateway) and expected there to be no order limit on a development store.

Context and details:

  • Store type: development store.
  • Order volume: 57 orders total; about half created earlier via admin before recent changes.
  • Workflow change: New orders with manual payment methods no longer create transactions, so the user switched to the Bogus Gateway to simulate orders.
  • Result: Began receiving an error (screenshot provided; image central to understanding the exact message).

Clarifications requested:

  • A staff member asked how many orders were made and confirmed it’s a dev store.

Positions:

  • The developer argues Partners should not face limits on order creation in dev stores, given ongoing app/connectors testing and the inability to delete (only archive) dev shops.

Status:

  • No resolution yet. Awaiting confirmation on whether the Bogus Gateway or dev stores have an order cap and guidance on how to proceed for testing transactions.

Im getting the following error with the bogus gateway.

I was under the impression that there was no limit of the number of orders that we can create with the bogus gateway?

Cheers

Gary

Hi Gary - how many orders did you make? This is on a dev store, correct?

Got 57 Orders on the dev store, half of them were created through the admin before the changes (no transactions being created for new orders with manual payment methods). Now I am using the bogus gateway to simulate orders and started getting the error.

For Partners there shouldn’t be a limit on how many orders we can create on a dev store since we are always building new connectors and apps for clients as well as testing new features and such it makes no sense to create a new development shop for each project, especially since its only possible to archive them and not delete the development shops.

Cheers,

Gary
