Hello everyone!

I am buliding a website, so people can book my apartments. There is 2 things that I need to know for that:

  1. What calendar app can sync with booking and airbnb

  2. What theme is best to be used in this specific case

1. Calendar sync with Booking.com and Airbnb

The standard way to avoid double bookings across platforms is through iCal feeds. Most booking apps support this in some form.

I work with Cowlendar (full transparency, I’m part of the team). It syncs with Google Calendar, so the flow would be: Cowlendar → Google Calendar → iCal export to Airbnb/Booking.com. One extra step but it keeps everything in one place.

Worth also checking out BookThatApp and Sesami to compare. Each handles the sync a bit differently.

2. Theme

Honestly, for apartments the theme matters less than how you set up your product pages. That said, Dawn or Horizon (free) is solid if you customize it well. Just make sure each apartment has good photos, clear pricing, amenities, and the booking widget above the fold.

For the theme, you should focus on the following:

  1. Go for a clean, image-focused design since apartment rentals rely heavily on visuals. Themes with large banners, gallery sections, and spacious layouts usually work best.
  2. A minimal and modern style also helps a lot. Free themes like Dawn or Horizon are good starting points because they’re fast, flexible, and easy to customize.
  3. You’ll also want a theme that works smoothly with booking or rental apps. Most Online Store 2.0 themes are compatible, so that part is usually straightforward.

If you want something that feels more premium or hospitality-focused, check the Shopify Theme Store. Look for themes with strong visual storytelling, large image sections, and clean layouts, since those work especially well for showcasing rental properties.

For the calendar sync, Sesami is the main one.

For the theme, honestly any clean theme works since the booking flow is driven by the app, not the theme. Dawn or Horizon (free, by Shopify) handle this fine. If you want something more visual for property listings, Impact, Be Yours, or Showcase (paid) have nice gallery and content layouts that suit apartment listings.

For syncing with Airbnb and bookingcom, I would suggest looking for a Shopify booking app that supports iCal import/export, not just Google Calendar.

Apps you can check:

  • ShopSTR - Book Everything

  • BTA Appointment Booking: Supports bookings for rentals and services, and its listing mentions Google Calendar, iCal, and Outlook sync.

For themes, I guess both Dawn and Horizon are good suggestions, as people have mentioned in this thread.
