Bots creating fake orders

Topic summary

Recurring abandoned-cart entries are coming from the same name outside the seller’s service country, each trying checkout with different credit cards. This appears automated and targets incomplete checkouts (the “abandoned cart” list shows attempted purchases that weren’t finished).

Mitigation tried: the seller removed the lowest-priced product for 24 hours. Result: attempts shifted to the next-cheapest item; when the original product was restored, attempts reverted to it. This suggests the actor selects the cheapest available product.

Constraint: the seller seeks a way to stop or block these fake orders without paying for additional apps/tools.

Status: unresolved. The poster is asking for cost-free solutions to prevent or filter these automated abandoned-cart attempts, and no confirmed fixes or outcomes have been reported yet.

Does anyone else get multiple orders in the abandoned cart list that are from the same name outside the country you serve trying to purchase with different credit cards? I’ve tried deleting that product for 24 hours and then it picked the next cheapest product….so i add the the product back in and it jumped back to using that one.
If anyone has a suggestion on how to get rid of them without spending money on more apps….that would be awesome.

Don’t be a cliche, don’t go it alone, search.

Thanks Paul, I did do a search, but was not sure exactly how to word it and the things that came up were not exactly the same as my situation…. I’m not sure there’s anything I can do about it, so I might just leave it….hopefully one day it’ll go away….
