Bounce back / Returning back to Older Theme. Alle themes and back-ups

Topic summary

Persistent issue where theme/store changes revert (“bounce back”) after publishing/unpublishing or restoring backups over the last 2–3 weeks. Even newly created themes lose saved adjustments once published and later republished, indicating it’s not theme-specific.

Troubleshooting already attempted:

  • Removed/reinstalled apps, cleared caches, and removed all custom developer code.
  • Reproduced across different themes and fresh setups.

Evidence: a Loom video and the store URL were provided to demonstrate the behavior.

Community input: a responder suspects a Shopify back-end/versioning conflict or platform bug and offered to collaborate and investigate. No concrete cause or fix has been identified yet.

Status/outcome: unresolved and ongoing. Key unknowns include the root cause (Shopify infrastructure/versioning, deployment, or other platform-level issue). Next steps are collaborative investigation and awaiting further guidance or escalation from Shopify support or community findings.

Dear,

I’ve been experiencing issues with bounce backs on my website for several weeks. I’ve reached out to Shopify multiple times, but it seems like they don’t have a solution for this either.

About 2-3 weeks ago, I noticed that whenever I make adjustments to my store or backup, when it’s published, it completely reverts to what it was before. I’ve tried everything Shopify has recommended, like removing and reinstalling apps, clearing cache files, and removing all the code added by our developer. However, the issue doesn’t seem to lie within the theme because even if I create a new theme, make adjustments, save, publish, then make further changes, unpublish, and publish again, all my changes are completely gone.

I’ve attached a video link from Loom, it’s save but if you want check it first.

We’ve been struggling with this for weeks now, and I’m at a point where I’m completely stumped and have no idea what’s causing it.

Has anyone experienced this before? I haven’t in the past four years, so if anyone knows the solution, I’d really appreciate hearing it!

Kind Regards

Nick

Please help!

@Nickvw12

Thank you for sharing the details about the issue you’re facing, along with the Loom video. I understand how frustrating and concerning this must be, especially since you’ve already taken numerous steps to troubleshoot.

From what you’ve described, it seems there might be a more technical issue at play—perhaps something related to Shopify’s back-end infrastructure, versioning conflicts, or a potential bug in their platform.

We need to collaborate i will check this

Dear Mrashid, it’s very frustrating. We don’t know what to do. Do you maybe know what it can be or do you want to help us?
