I’d love some focused feedback on my new Shopify store, Moonspell Hollow.
This is a handcrafted, small-batch brand centered around one-of-a-kind witch hats and ritual pieces — very story-driven and intentionally not mass-produced.
I’m intentionally not competing on price or volume, so I’d really value feedback specifically on:
• First impression — does the homepage feel clear and elevated?
• Product pages — do they feel compelling enough to justify a premium, one-of-a-kind piece?
• Navigation — is it easy to browse collections and understand what I offer?
• Trust — does the site feel credible and purchase-ready?
My goal is to build a brand-led experience (not a marketplace-style shop), so feedback aligned with that direction would be especially helpful.
Thank you so much — I really appreciate any thoughtful insights
Your website is minimal and looks pretty decent but I believe there’s a room for improvement in it. I can mention some points so you can consider improving them.
Homepage looks too simple with a lot of white extra space. There’s only text in hero banner, nothing else. If a new customer lands on the website their first impression will be confused.
Product page is pretty good as well, I believe that’s all from my side. If you’re still looking to improve it then there are thousands of people asking for store feedbacks in the community forums so try exploring that too which will also give you an idea what to improve.
The concept is genuinely compelling and there’s a real audience for handcrafted, story-driven witchcraft aesthetic brands. People who are into this space spend seriously good money when they feel connected to what they’re buying. But right now the store isn’t quite living up to the brand vision you described.
The navigation is the first thing that needs fixing. Someone landing on your homepage shouldn’t have to hunt through sections to figure out how to browse your products. A proper header menu with your collections clearly laid out, witch hats, t-shirts, spell kits, makes the store feel finished and intentional. Right now it feels like the navigation was an afterthought and for a premium brand that’s the last impression you want to give.
Your WHY is also too buried. You said the brand is story-driven and intentionally small batch, but that story needs to hit someone in the first few seconds of landing on the homepage, not after they’ve already scrolled past everything. A strong image that captures the aesthetic paired with a line or two about what Moonspell Hollow actually is and who makes these pieces would do a lot of heavy lifting. Premium handcrafted products live and die by the story behind them, people aren’t just buying a witch hat, they’re buying into a world and you need to sell that world harder upfront.
On the cart side, your slider cart is there but it’s sitting idle. Someone buying a witch hat should be seeing the matching spell kit or t-shirt right inside the cart at that exact moment. For a brand like this where the whole thing is about creating a complete ritual aesthetic, cross-sells feel completely natural and on-brand rather than pushy. A free shipping or discount progress bar in there would also work well given the premium price points you’re working with.
Don’t go piecing this together with multiple separate apps though. It gets expensive and slows your store down. Something like iCart handles the progress bar and in-cart cross-sells all in one place without the bloat.
Thank you so much for taking the time to give me constructive feedback. It’s really appreciated! You made some really good suggestions of which I will work through to help improve the site. Especially love the favicon suggestion for the witch hat .
I had a look and the strongest part of the store is that it already has a clear point of view. Sisters not twins and the idea that each hat is a character waiting for the right person make it feel like a real brand rather than a collection of products.
The navigation is straightforward and the product descriptions do a good job of explaining the materials, details and intention behind each piece.
The main trust improvement I’d make is bringing your overall 4.94 rating and 51 verified reviews onto the individual product pages. Ash Dahlia currently shows “No reviews”, even though the brand clearly has strong customer feedback elsewhere. That creates an unnecessary gap at the point where someone is deciding whether to buy.
I’d also look closely at what happens after checkout. A named, handmade piece with its own character and story deserves more than becoming a line item in a standard confirmation email.
This is exactly the kind of brand we had in mind when building Digital Unboxing & COA Kit. Each hat could have its own digital handover with its story, a note from you, care information and a certificate of authenticity. It’s available in the Shopify App Store if you’d like to see how that could work.
The foundation is strong. The store already feels distinctive, and the language around each piece is what makes it memorable.
