Broadcast Theme - Newsletter Signup Error

Topic summary

A designer is troubleshooting a newsletter signup error on a Shopify landing page using the Broadcast theme. Clients report that subscribers occasionally see a popup error message after clicking the Join button, with at least one instance showing a generic Shopify error.

Key challenges:

  • The error cannot be replicated by the designer, making investigation difficult
  • Specific location of error message code/CSS files is unclear
  • Need to create a custom-designed error message to replace generic Shopify messaging

Current status:

  • Awaiting screenshots and additional details from the client to help replicate the issue
  • Designer seeks guidance on which specific theme files control the error messaging
  • Follow-up communication has moved to email

Been helping my client design their Shopify landing page and have received the following comment:

"There have been people trying to subscribe and we have heard at least on 2 occasions that the person saw a popup error message after pressing the Join button.

Can we first of all investigate why this could be causing an error in some cases?

Secondly, one friend said they saw a generic shopify error message. We should at the very least have our own designed error message for these situations. Could you please design one?"

I’m not experiencing this error myself so it’s difficult to investigate what’s causing it. Anyone experience anything similar/know a solution, and also understand what error message they might be seeing?

Shopify URL is gw08w8-nb.myshopify.com

Thanks but I’m looking for more specific technical help, for example where exactly can I go to edit the error message/CSS? I’m looking at all the code files and not seeing anything indicating where the error message might be stored, and can’t replicate the error myself.

Waiting for the client to pass over a screenshot + more details on where this issue is happening to see if I can replicate the error, but in the meantime hoping for some guidance on specifically what files to investigate.

Just sent you an email!
