Hello, I’m writing this message because I’m having a problem with Shopify. I started a week ago and I’m using AutoDS to sync my products. But I can’t seem to set AutoDS Dropshipping and POD as the location. I only have my address active, and I can’t even select AutoDS: Dropshipping & POD; it’s just listed further down under “Application and custom order fulfillment locations.” I’ve tried many things in the last three days (reinstalling, re-uploading the products, changing the stock location by including AutoDS in my product settings, but since it’s not listed under Location, it’s not detected). How can I fix this? Does anyone know? Thanks, and have a nice day.
You’ll need to add AutoDS as a custom fulfillment service/location in Shopify and then assign products to it , go to Settings → Shipping & delivery → Custom order fulfillment and click Add fulfillment service.
this issue happens when Shopify doesn’t fully register Auto DS as a fulfillment service. Even if Auto DS shows up under Application and custom order fulfillment locations, it won’t appear as a selectable inventory location until two things are done
Why AutoDS Isn’t Showing as a Location
AutoDS does not appear as a normal Shopify “Location” like your home/business address.
Instead, Shopify places it under:
Settings → Locations → Application and custom order fulfillment locations
This is correct - AutoDS is an app-based fulfillment service, not a physical warehouse.
That’s why you cannot select it manually like a typical location.
Shopify will only assign orders to AutoDS if two things are set correctly.
How to Fix It (Step-by-Step)
1. Make sure AutoDS is enabled as a fulfillment service
Go to:
Shopify Admin → Settings → Shipping and Delivery → Custom Order Fulfillment → AutoDS
Make sure it’s turned ON (AutoDS usually installs this automatically).
2. Check your product’s “Fulfillment service” (THIS is the real fix)
For every product AutoDS imports, do this:
-
Go to Products
-
Open the product
-
Scroll to Inventory
-
Look for “Fulfillment Service.”
-
Change it to:
AutoDS: Dropshipping & POD -
Save
Important:
The dropdown might say “Shopify” or “Manual” right now - that means AutoDS cannot fulfil it.
3. Do NOT try to set AutoDS as a location
This is where most new users get confused.
AutoDS does not show up in:
Settings → Locations → Locations list
So you cannot assign stock to it directly.
Instead, AutoDS fulfillment is triggered automatically when:
-
The product’s fulfillment service is set to AutoDS
-
AutoDS is connected and active in the app
-
The product is imported through AutoDS correctly (not manually added to Shopify)
If AutoDS still doesn’t appear as a fulfillment option…
Try this:
A. Re-sync your store from AutoDS
AutoDS App → Store Settings → Sync Store
B. Re-import ONE product through AutoDS
If the test product has the correct “Fulfillment Service,” then your older products weren’t imported properly.
C. Disable conflicting apps
Some apps override fulfillment services. Disable any “inventory” or “fulfillment” apps temporarily.
Quick Check to Confirm It’s Working
Open a product and see:
“Inventory → Managed by: AutoDS: Dropshipping & POD”
If you see that → Your issue is fixed.
If it still only says “Shopify,” then AutoDS hasn’t taken control of the product.
I hope this explanation helps you understand why AutoDS isn’t showing as a location and how to properly set it up. Once your products have the correct fulfillment service assigned, AutoDS should manage orders automatically.
