Built a Shop the Look app — looking for a few stores to test it (extended trial, your feedback shapes the roadmap)

Hi everyone,

I’m Vlad — I’ve been a developer for about 10 years, the last 5 of those building on Shopify, and full disclosure up front: this is about my own app.

Over the past months I built **Hotspot Studio: Shop the Look** — it turns lifestyle photos into shoppable images. You pin products onto a photo, shoppers tap a dot, see the product and add it to cart right there. There’s a one-tap “shop the whole look” button, multi-image galleries, click/revenue analytics, and an AI assistant that finds the products on a photo and places the pins for you.

The app is live on the App Store, but it’s young, and before I push any marketing I want it to be genuinely useful for real stores — not just look good in screenshots. So I’m looking for a few merchants to test it on real traffic:

  • I’ll extend the free trial for anyone from this thread, so you can test it properly with no pressure.
  • I can help with setup — happy to answer questions or point you in the right direction over DM, whatever’s easiest.
  • Most importantly, I’ll listen. If a feature is missing, a setting is confusing, or the wording is off — tell me, and if it makes sense for the app, I’ll build or fix it. Most of what’s in the app so far came from me looking at what other Shop the Look-style apps were missing and building that in — this round is about testing whether that’s actually what real stores need.

If lookbooks or shoppable photos fit your store, you can find it here:

Drop a comment or DM me after installing and I’ll set up the extended trial.

And even if you don’t need the app — I’d genuinely love to hear what a “shop the look” app must do to be worth installing for you.

Thanks for reading!

Hey Vlad — this looks solid, especially the revenue/click analytics + “shop the whole look” flow.

If you’re looking for feedback that’s easy for merchants to validate quickly, I’d lean into reporting a bit more:

  • Make sure store owners can reconcile your “revenue per hotspot/look” with Shopify’s built-in analytics/reports (so they trust the numbers).
  • Bonus points if you let them export the events/orders so they can slice it by channel/product/collection in something like Mipler reports alongside Shopify sales data (that’s usually where teams live when they’re proving ROI).

Feature-wise, the “must have” for me is: per-image + per-pin performance over time (and an easy way to A/B two images).

Hope you get a good batch of testers—curious how accurate the AI pinning is on real lifestyle shots.

Thanks Mark — this is exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping for.

On reconciliation: revenue is already counted conservatively. Only the order lines that were added through a hotspot are attributed, in the store’s currency, refunds are subtracted, and each order counts once per look. What’s missing is a way to check that against Shopify’s own reports, so I’ll add an “attributed orders” export: order number, date, look, hotspot/product, line amount. That lets you match every dollar to an order in Shopify, and slice it in whatever reporting tool you already use.

Per-image and per-pin performance over time: the daily data per pin is already collected, it’s just not shown as a trend yet, only as totals for the selected range. I’ll surface it.

A/B for two images — I’ve thought about it and may well build it down the road, but I’m not yet convinced it’s what most stores need, so I’m not promising it.

On AI pinning: on clean product shots it’s reliable. On busy lifestyle photos it now compares the crop of each item visually against your catalog images, not just by title, and the merchant approves every pin before anything goes live — nothing is placed automatically.

If you’d like to try it on a store, DM me and I’ll set up the extended trial.
