Ok need help. Has anyone got an app that does this. Every time I think I find one I am told that it cannot be done.
So what I want to do
A customer picks a pack type. This will be a Yarn Box
Product 1 will be the yarn, one variants. This will automatically be 4 of the one the customer chose
Product 2 will be the same yarn, but a different variant (colour), again this will be 4 of the one they choose
Product 3 will be a pattern (this one is usually easy).
The customer cannot pick a variant if there is not 4 in stock.
I do not think this is unusual but looks like it is.
If anyone can let me know a product that does it would be fabulous.

I would not even know how to start working with a developer. The business is just part time at the moment, supported by my full time work so do not have a lot of money to throw at it.

Your situation is complex, and while I have a solution to suggest, it may not fully meet your requirements. Here’s what you can do 
:

Create a Yarn product with several variants representing your product colors. To ensure customers can only select the variant when there are 4 in stock, set the quantity for each variant as follows: 1 quantity in Shopify = 4 real quantity (e.g.: real quantity = 44 => quantity in Shopify = 11).

Create a Pattern product.

Also, create a Yarn Box product without the need for variants.

Install the Easify Product Options app and configure custom options for your Yarn Box product as follows:
- Add the Dropdown (or Color/ Image Swatches) option type for selecting the color of the 1st Yarn product using the Dropdown option type and add-on product.
- Add another similar Dropdown (or Color/ Image Swatches) for selecting the color of the 2nd Yarn product using the Dropdown option type and add-on product.
- Add the Button option type for selecting the pattern product:
- Once you’ve set up these options, remember to assign the option set to the Yarn Box product:

You can allow the user to select one product and hard-code another. You can allow variants to be selected or pinned to variants of products rather than the products themselves as bundle components.
