We sell clippers, and we often switch out the standard blades. For inventory purposes, I would like to sell the clipper body for a set price with its own SKU, then have the customer choose which blade they would like, with each blade having its own price and SKU. These blades are also sold individually. It seems that most bundle apps only offer bundle discounts, but that’s not what I need. So, for example, I’m selling Emerge clippers (the body only) for $375. It has a SKU of 12345. There will be 6 different blade options that the customer must choose from. Each blade has its own price, and is added onto the $375 base price. Each blade has its own SKU. Each blade also has its own page, so that it can be purchased individually as well. Is this possible??
If the blades are set up as variants of a product, you could use the Shopify Bundles app. However, since you mentioned that each one has its own page, I assume they are set up as individual products. Shopify Bundles won’t work because it only supports fixed product bundles.
Instead, you can try Bundles Inventory app. You can create bundles as normal products, and assign component products to each variants individually. So your bundle will be set like:
- product: clipper bundle
– variant 1: body + blade 1
– variant 2: body + blade 2
– variant 3: body + blade 3
…
By default, the price is calculated as the sum of each component’s price. You can optionally deduct the price (by percentage or fixed amount), or set a fixed price.
Thank you, I think that might work!
Instead of creating a separate combo product, I recommend you set up a Mix and Match bundle (no discount) directly on your clipper product page. This way, customers can:
- Easily explore your blade while browsing for clipper (higher conversion rate).
Example:
- Directly choose their preferred products on one page, with different pricing & variant for each option.
- Each variant still has its own SKU and product page, and inventory is tracked and synced properly.
Here’s how to set it up:
P/s: I use BOGOS: Free Gift Bundle Upsell app as an example. You can try it for free if you’re interested.
- Create “Mix & Match” offer > Choose “Each Mix item contains a different list of products” > Select 2 collections (mix item 1: clippers and 2: blades) > Set minimum quantity = 1 for each mix item (this requires customers to buy at least 1 clipper & 1 blade)
- Set quantity for discount = 2 > Choose 0% discount (no discount) OR any number you want to offer
If you have other requirements, please let me know, and then I can support you better.
Best,
Ellie.
Hi @RK_Animal ![]()
If traditional bundle apps haven’t been able to meet your requirements because you need to maintain separate SKUs, pricing, and inventory for each blade, you may want to consider using Easify Product Options with the Add-on Products feature.![]()
I’ve created a similar example so you can see how it works:
- This is the result:
- This is the app setup:
With Easify Product Options, you only need a single main product, such as the Emerge Clipper Body, priced at a fixed $375. You can then create a required option called Choose Your Blade and add the 6 blade products you’ve already created in Shopify as Add-on Products.
Each blade remains an independent Shopify product with its own SKU, price, inventory, and product page. This means customers can continue purchasing blades individually from their dedicated product pages, while inventory is deducted from the same blade product when it’s purchased together with the clipper body.![]()
When a customer selects a blade, its price is automatically added to the $375 base price of the clipper body. For example, if a customer chooses the Fade Blade priced at $46.99, the total product price will be updated accordingly.
This approach allows you to create a clean and intuitive “Build Your Own Clipper” experience on a single product page, while avoiding the need to create numerous variants or complex bundle configurations just to handle blade selection. If your goal is to sell a clipper body with a mandatory blade choice while keeping separate SKUs and inventory tracking for each blade, this would be a very practical and easy-to-manage solution.![]()
Hey @RK_Animal !
Yes, this is doable.
You can try NeatBundles (full disclosure, I’m the founder
). It’s built for exactly this kind of add-on setup, not just discounts. You’d create a builder for the Emerge clippers where the body ($375, SKU 12345) is the base item, and the customer must pick 1 of the 6 blades to continue. Set pricing to calculated (not fixed), and the total comes out as $375 + whatever the chosen blade costs — no forced bundle discount in sight, since you can set the discount to “none”.
The blades stay as their own normal products with their own SKUs and product pages, so they keep selling individually too — NeatBundles just references them as the selectable options inside the builder. And because the order is created with the actual line items (body SKU + the chosen blade SKU), your inventory and fulfillment see the real products, not one opaque “clipper bundle” item.
Happy to help you get it set up, or to be honest, if something doesn’t fit — feel free to reach out!
Best,
Jure
