Trying to establish our business account and store with Shopify but running into problems as our Business name reflected in Shopify does not currently reflect the business name in IRS records. We changed our business name with the state (Florida, /USA) in January 2023 but the IRS, unfortunately, has a huge backlog with administration and we are still waiting for the change to reflect with the IRS. Our EIN # has not changed (it is the same business). We are going around in circles with Shopify as we are unable to finalize the setup of our business account due to this discrepancy even though we have online state records verifying this business name change. We seem to be in limbo until the IRS has updated its records. Surely there have to be many customers of Shopify who changed business names with verifiable State records awaiting IRS changes? We would sincerely appreciate any advice as to how to navigate around this issue so that we can continue with our online store. Thank you!!!
