I’d like to pay for an App for a client’s (live) website - does anyone know if it’s possible? Seems like the only way to add an app to their site is for them to buy it themselves.

Actually, you can add the app yourself if the store owner grants you “Manage app” permissions. If the app you need has a free or trial plan for testing purposes, you can add it without any issues. However, if it requires a purchase, the store owner will need to buy it before you can use it.
