BUY X GET Y NOT WORKING on default

Good day!

I just want to ask why the BUY X GET Y promo doesn’t work by default on Shopify? I’ve tried using applications and they work, but the promo only takes effect when we click ADD TO CART using apps. I want the free item to be included even if the customer clicks BUY IT NOW.

How can I make it work using Shopify’s default settings? Also, do you have any recommendations for apps that fit my requirements?

Please help.

First Thing: The “Buy It Now” button functions as an express checkout. For example, if you have 3 items in your cart and then click on a 4th item and select “Buy It Now,” only the 4th item will proceed to checkout. The previously added 3 items will not be included. This is the intended functionality of the “Buy It Now” button.

Second Thing: The “Buy X Get Y” offer works correctly, but it requires user action. The user needs to manually add both the X and Y items to the cart for the offer to apply, making one item free.
