Since Shippo does not show allow calculated rates to be shown on Shopify unless integrated via API, we are curious if it is possible to show the Shopify Shipping calculated rates at check out and then purchase our labels through Shippo as Shippo discounts seem to be greater than what Shopify provides.
We want to be able to provide our customers with more accurate shipping prices rather than a flat rate as we have found that oftentimes we end up paying more than the customer paid once invoiced from the carrier. We use Shiphero for fulfillment.
Does anyone have experience with this? Please let us know. Thank you in advance!
We might be able to help you integrate Shippo’s rates at checkout if Shippo provides API for rate calculation. Our app JsRates has a feature that enables you to fetch shipping rates from a third-party API. If you are keen, install the app and reach out to support via “Contact support” in the app. The app has a free demo plan; we can help you set up the Shippo API integration (assuming they have API documentation, and you have Shippo’s API access credentials). You will upgrade to paid plan after testing and satisfied with the result. Please also note that the Carrier Calculated Shipping (CCS) feature needs to be activated on your store to use our app at checkout.
I believe it’s possible. Just ensure the shipping methods available in Shopify (e.g., standard, express) match those you use in Shippo. This helps avoid any significant discrepancies between the checkout rate and the actual label cost.
To answer the second part of your question, you’d probably find it best to offer live rates at checkout and add a margin (either flat or percentage) on top of those live rates. I’m not sure if Shiphero can do this – I can’t see anything after a quick search (I know our app can).
