I spoke to Shopify customer service, they told me there is no native functionality for what I need. The only way is to use an app, which requires a monthly subscription AND you have to upgrade the Shopify plan. I think Shopify have dropped the ball on this one big time. Basically without paying a crazy amount you can’t use calculated shipping rates in my opinion.
