Can a variant be set to draw multiple inventory?

Topic summary

Main issue: A merchant wants a product variant that represents a discounted 6-pack bundle to deduct six units of the same SKU from inventory when that variant is purchased.

Constraints: They don’t want to use Shopify’s automatic “Buy X Get Y” discount, since the discount should apply only when the bundle is explicitly selected as a variant.

Suggested solution: A responder recommended the third-party app SimpleSync (Shopify App Store) to synchronize inventory across variants/bundles.

Status: No confirmation of success or native Shopify setting provided; the question remains functionally open pending validation of the app approach.

Notes/terms:

  • Variant: a specific option of a product (e.g., size, bundle).
  • SKU: Stock Keeping Unit, the item’s unique inventory identifier.
  • “Buy X Get Y”: an automatic discount rule that applies globally when conditions are met.

Hello,

Is there a way for a product variant to draw an inventory quantity greater than “one”? One of our variants is a discounted bundle of 6 products for a set price. When it is purchased, I’d like for that variant to draw 6 of that particular SKU from our inventory.

Setting up an automatic “Buy X Get Y” discount isn’t an option because we don’t want customers to always get this discount…only when they select it as a variant.

Any ideas? Thank you!
