Can 'amount off order' discount codes be updated after an order?

Hi,

I have a question regarding updates of discounts. Specifically the “amount off order” type.

Basically, our system has trouble handling returns processed on gift cards, I was wondering if it would be possible using the “amount off order” type of discount as an alternative?

Is it possible to update a discount code after an order?

For example; a customer has a “gift card” (discount code) of $500. This customer then places an order of $300. Is there any way to automatically update the “amount off order” amount, to subtract the $300?

You might be able to do this with Shopify Flow, but I’m honestly not sure if Shopify Flow can do math.

If not, then you could build a custom app.

Hmm not sure I follow. Are you talking about sort of converting an actual gift card on an order to a discount code after the order is placed?
