We have recently just launched our website which specialises in the sale of van parts. We offer 100s of parts online and are currently using a year / make / model search on our homepage. We are trying to find an app which will allow us to use vehicle registrations to search for compatible parts, even if only in the background.

There is an app developed by GoVedia LLC in the Shopify app store called Automotive Part Search that should be exactly what you’re looking for. With this app, you will be able to provide your customers the ability to quickly search your store by vehicle-specific matches. Feel free to check out their app demo to see how it functions on a live store. They offer a 14-day free trial, from there you can decide to go on the paid plan for $49/month.
Alternatively, there is another app called Year, Make, Model Search that comes in at $10/month after their 14-day free trial. It looks like you need a YMM filter. Please take a look at this app and its demo store. You can achieve the YMM filter using this app https://apps.shopify.com/ultimate-search-filter-year-make-model. You can add YMM data to tags or metafields.

I’ve just launched AutoFinder UK which is available on the app store - it has two main search types: an autocomplete search using year/make/model and a vehicle registration (VRM) search that identifies the year/make/model from a UK vehicle’s number plate.
