Can customers initiate their own return requests?

Are customers able to initiate a return on their own? And if so, what’s the process? I already went over this article but don’t see mention a self service option.

If the return has to be perform by the store owner inside admin only, how do you suggest we communicate the action steps to customers on the Return Policy page?

Customers are able to initiate a return on their own if you have an app like Returnly or Loop Returns & Exchanges installed on your store. You can browse all of the apps for returns and exchanges here: Best Returns and exchanges apps for 2022 on Shopify App Store.

If you’re performing returns manually in the admin, I recommend following our guide on how to write a return policy. That post even includes a template you can use for your store. I often see stores offering an email address specifically for returns and exchanges, or a contact form that asks for the order number and details on the request. I hope that helps!
