Can customers make PayPal purchases before shop payments are fully set up?

i didn´t fully set up my Shop For the Payments,

but my question is if Customers enter my website and buy a product with paypal do i still get the money. Or how does this work ?

Hey, @Luca999

So long as you have one payment gateway fully setup, you will be able to process orders on your store and receive payouts from the gateway. Since it sounds like you setup PayPal, you will be able to process orders and receive payments through their gateway.

If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.

Yes, you will receive the money as long as PayPal is properly connected and active in your Shopify store.

Once a customer completes the checkout using PayPal, the payment is processed through PayPal and the amount is credited to your PayPal account (not directly to Shopify). From there, you can transfer it to your bank account.

A couple of important things to double-check:

• Make sure your PayPal account is fully verified
• Check that your PayPal email in Shopify is correct
• Ensure the payment gateway is set to “active”
• Test with a small order if you’re unsure

Also keep in mind that PayPal will deduct fees from each transaction, so the amount you receive will be slightly lower than what the customer paid.

If you’re selling regularly, it’s actually worth calculating those fees in advance so you don’t lose margin. I usually check it with a calculator like this one:

It helps to see exactly how much you’ll receive after fees or what price you should charge.

But overall — yes, once PayPal is connected correctly, you’ll receive payments without any issue.
