I am new to shopify and I am familiar on general html stuff but I have a question about the buy button. I am specifically asking about the buy button which can be bought for around £7 monthly. I understand this button works similarly to paypals add to cart button. My question is, once a customer has made a purchase, can they log in to view all orders from my website? Does this button allow customers to have an account they can log into to view purchases from my website? Ive tried searching youtube and the forums and shopify website but no videos of the customers journey.
The short answer is no. You need an entire system to handle authentication and your own database. Shopify Lite/Buy doesn’t come with this. You need the Basic Plan with an Online Store which will have an option for the customers to create an account.
Thank you for your reply. Just to clarify, I dont need any customer database, but just wondering how the customer tracks their order if they use the buy button. Also upon further digging i came across this forum, which indicates theres an option to force customers to make an account, is this not for the buy button?
As I mentioned, you need the Online Store that comes with the possibility of customer accounts and the database related to that. The person in link you quoted couldn’t do it without an Online Store. And by Online Store I mean the sales channel provided by Shopify.
