My store MondoMonsterWear.com sells T Shirts. While it’s relevant for the customer to choose between the choices of size or shirt color, I do want to have a button or check box where a buyer has the option to uprade to a long sleeve T and therefore would be charged an extra $1. Is this a possibility without creating duplicate variants in size and color?

If you want to charge an extra $1 and don’t have to create variants, you can just install an app for it. Refer https://apps.shopify.com/product-personalizer or https://apps.shopify.com/customify
