Is there a way to add custom fields to a customer’s account and to the customer registration page? For example, most of my customers are collectors of playing cards. I want to have a field on their account where they can enter the year in which they started collecting playing cards. Is that possible?

This solution doesn’t create a special field, it shows up in customer notes. Is there not a way to create a special field to house and report special data?

You can accomplish this using an app such as our Helium Customer Fields app. You can build custom registration forms, including adding extra fields to collect information which is stored as metafields on a customer record.

Our app has just launched as an extension for merchants using new Customer Accounts to create custom customer fields for the customer’s profile page. You can create any field you wish using Shopify’s customer metafields, and customers can add/update their information freely within the customer account profile page. Say on a pet store trying capture the:
- Pet Name
- Prescription Name
The idea behind this is to be able to capture this information and when the customer returns retrieve it to populate that information for the customer on a custom page to allow the customer to reorder regular items or prescriptions.
Hi @mmbmca thanks for your question. If you are using Shopify New Customer Accounts and wish to use our app for your use case, Customer Accounts Pro, you can create multiple text based fields (customers can input any text into the text box) such as “Pet Name” and “Prescription Name” easily.
As these are Shopify metafields, you can use them on other pages across your site.
