We are currently using Stripe to process credit cards and would like to integrate another payment gateway that falls under “Third Party”, for online banking. However only ONE third-party is available, and when I tried to add an alternative, neither Stripe nor the other payment gateway is available there. Is there any way we can add Stripe as an alternative instead? It’s kind of frustrating only one payment method is allowed and only some shows up in alternative and there’s no way to add our own.
Hello @ecmy !
I understand your frustrations here.
It is not currently possible to have Stripe as an alternative gateway, so if you replace it in the third party gateway section, it won’t be active on the store. You mentioned that you’re looking for this other payment method to be online banking, so as an alternative to using that third party gateway I wanted to check if you already looked into the manual payment methods option. This is an option for customers who do not wish to pay by card, and instead opt for something like bank transfer. A suggested manual payment method can be activated the following way:
- From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Payments.
- In the Payment providers section, select one of the available manual payment methods.
- In Additional details, enter any information that you want shown next to the payment method in your checkout.
- In Payment instructions, enter the instructions that you want your customers to follow to pay for an order. These instructions are shown on the order confirmation page after a customer completes their order.
Please note: When you enter this information, check with your bank or delivery service to find out exactly what a customer must do to complete the payment.
- Click the activate payment method button.
If you have already looked into this option and it is not suitable for you, could you please tell me a little more about why not and why you’re looking to use this payment method specifically, that way I might be able to look into some alternatives for you.
Let me know if you have any other questions on this.
Thanks! -Lana
