Can I assign blog templates without purchasing the theme?

Hi

I am middle of creating my store however I have not purchased the theme as of yet

. I have created template for Blog main page and templates Blog Posts however on the back end it does allow me to assign it to the blog page / post page. Isn’t this possible till I buy the theme?
