Hi, @i_got_scammed1 !

Welcome to Shopify Community. Thank you for sharing your question here with our network.

Firstly, I’m sorry to hear about your experience. It’s always distressing to be on the receiving end of fraudulent charges and I trust that your bank is able to provide full support and protect you as the buyer. If you haven’t already, make sure to discuss your options with them as they do have protocols in place to address situations like this and stop pending charges.

With that being said, it’s always a good idea to inform the company where the charge occurred so they can also assist from their side. This typically results in a faster resolution and also protects the company from the charges associated with fraudulent orders.

From your message, it’s unclear whether this charge was from Shopify or from a store that is potentially hosted on Shopify. Your next steps will differ based on that, so I will outline both below:

Charge is from Shopify

If the charge was directly from Shopify, there may be an account open with your billing information. Our Support Team can assist with looking into this and ceasing all future charges immediately, along with investigating the previous charge.

Charge is from a store that might be hosted on Shopify

It’s more than likely some contact information was provided on your bank statement as to which company the charge is from. Make sure to connect with that independent business directly to describe your concerns and request a cancellation of the order.

I trust that provides further insight, but let me know if you have more questions.

Warm regards,

Can u guys help me provide info of where the transactions was made and can u guys contact the seller to refund the money? (Cancel the order)

I won’t be able to buy food of the rest of the month.

Can u please help me out? Please please

I don’t even know what this website is, maybe he work for u guys?

Thank you so much for following up, @i_got_scammed1 .

In this case, it sounds like the charge may have been from an independent business that might be using our software to host their store.

To provide some context, Shopify is an e-commerce provider which many independent businesses use. We are not involved with order or store management, nor can we check which businesses use our services due to client privacy. Therefore, we are not privy to the details around the transaction nor would we be able to offer that insight. Your bank on the other hand, can offer this insight as they will have all the details around where the charge was made and with what company.

I recommend connecting with the store directly and discussing your options with your bank. For more context, you may also check out our Buyer FAQ.

Warm regards,

This just happened to me.. did it work?
