so my question is I already submitted that I am from the USA and for the payment. I need a Social Security number. However I do not have a Social Security number because I am not a USA resident. I’m just a student who study in the USA and so submit my payment in another method, I need an LLC and I will get that but to submit my LLC I need to change my country so can I do that or not and if I can, can you show me the steps please.
Topic summary
Non‑resident student set their business country to the USA in Shopify and was prompted to provide a Social Security Number (SSN), which they don’t have. They asked if they can change their country to use an LLC for payments and requested step‑by‑step guidance.
Key clarifications:
- To list the business as located in the USA, Shopify requires U.S. identification details (e.g., SSN). Ensure the country in settings matches your actual business location.
- LLC (Limited Liability Company) is a business entity; forming one doesn’t replace the need for correct country and required identification.
Action advised:
- Contact Shopify Support Advisors via the support portal; they can escalate to the internal team to update the country and payment settings.
Status:
- No step‑by‑step instructions provided in the thread. Resolution pending direct support assistance; discussion remains open.
