we just switched over to shopify. On our old website we were able to customize fields on the checkout part. We like to find out where the customer heard about us? Is there a way for me to do this in shopify? I would like to add a field that says “How did you hear about us”. We do a lot of events and this is a way that we are able to track what kind of repeat business we might get from these events.

You can only edit the checkout page if you have a Shopify plus subscription. Your other alternative is use a line-item property in the cart page instead. You can use this link to create one.

As you aware that we can’t change checkout page.
But you can add your feature at cart page.
