I can’t verify my identity because im 17 but, my birthday is in a couple weeks, Should i miss the verification date and wait till i turn 18 so i can verify it then, also what will happen if i miss it. And Is there a way to fix this so I dont have to wait till my birthday to identify my information.
If I don’t verify my identity before the suggested date, will I lose my store, if so how would I get it back?
Did you receive an email about the verification process? Or was it communicated to you via a banner on the homepage of your Shopify admin?
The account owner of a Shopify store must be over 18, however staff members and employees of the store are allowed to be minors. Because of this, if you’re still under 18 now, you’ll need to do the following on your store:
Change the account owner of your store to your parent or guardian by following the steps found here.
You’ll then be able to leave yourself listed as a staff account for the store, as described here.
Your parent or guardian will need to add their credit card as the billing method for the store, which they can do by following these instructions.
Once all of the above has been completed, please get in touch with our Live Support team so that we can guide you with your next steps and clarify any further account-specific questions you have.
Our internal teams are best equipped to support you with this matter, so please login to your store via our Help Center here to start the contact process.
