Is there a way to export reports into Google Sheets? I’m only seeing reports available as a CSV file for Excel. I’d imagine more and more customers are moving to Google Sheets over Excel. This functionality would be very helpful!
Topic summary
A user asks whether Shopify reports can be exported directly to Google Sheets, noting they currently only see CSV export options designed for Excel.
Official Response:
- CSV files can be imported into Google Sheets just as easily as Excel
- Shopify actually recommends Sheets over Excel due to encoding issues
- The CSV format is software-agnostic by design
- Official documentation provides import instructions
Workarounds & Solutions:
- Manual method: Export CSV from Shopify → Import to Google Sheets via File > Import
- Third-party app (Mipler: Advanced Reports) offers automated exports to Google Sheets with scheduling options
- External tools like Dataflowed provide both manual and automatic export methods
Status: The discussion confirms no native direct-to-Sheets export exists, but multiple viable alternatives are available through manual CSV imports or third-party integrations.
You can import the CSV files into Google Sheets just the same as you would with Excel. We would normally recommend Sheets over Excel because Excel tends to create encoding issues. For this reason, the sheets aren’t designed for any specific software.
