I believe I may have set up a store previously with the same name.
I’m trying to set up a new store but I’m getting the error in the title. Is it possible to figure out which store is causing the issue, and either delete it or migrate it to my new account?
Thanks for reaching out in our Community forums and for sharing your concern, I’d be happy to help.
URLs are a unique website address where your customers can go to find your online store. It is important to know that because Shopify uniquely codes your information to this one Shopify address, it is not possible to transport this information to a new URL. We do have a URL RecoveryTool that gives you a list of every store connected to the email you input. It would be worth checking out your recently used emails to see if you can locate the URL associated with your shop.
If you are unable to find the connected account, you can look to have a domain connected to your Shopify store, the Shopify URL will not be seen by the public, only known by you. To do this, you can purchase a new domain directly through Shopify using our guide here to obtain and get it set up in a couple clicks.
Kindly reply back to this thread with any questions or updates and we can continue our conversation with setting up your store further.
This error indicates the domain may have been set up on another store.
To resolve this situation you’ll need to contact Shopify Support with the following details:
Your physical, or postal address
Your Shopify account email address
The last four digits of the credit card you are using with Shopify
Proof of purchase for the domain you would like to use. This could be a screenshot with your name and the domain name from the domain registration account or an email receipt is needed for verification)
After gathering this information contact Shopify Support via email, or phone using this Link.
