Can I get a refund for a duplicate domain purchase error?

I bought a domain for my webshop called on 20/03/23. I had an error while making the purchase so I tried another one, after I took a look at the invoices I realized that both the domain went trough the payments but only one is being registered as my domain. one was paid with paypal (with the error) and one was paid with creditcard, is there any possibility that I can get one of those payments refunded?

Hey @Alenko2022 !

I understand that you are looking to achieve a refund for one of two payments made for a domain purchase. Generally Domains are considered non-tangible, irrevocable digital goods which are not exchangeable or transferrable. Once a domain is purchased, it belongs to the buyer for the year ahead and cannot be refunded. This is outlined in the Domain Registration Agreement here, which is presented at the time of domain purchase. Can you please clarify the below?

  • Could you please specify what challenges you faced while purchasing first that led you to go for purchasing the second domain?
  • Did you see any errors? If so please provide details of that error?
  • Is the payment for the invoices appearing in your billing in the admin or your statements?

Looking forward to your response!

When purchasing the first domain I saw ‘server error’ which led to my suspection of thinking that it was already taken. So after the first try I tried a different one with another payment method and when I checked the invoices I saw that I was charged twice for the domain, the ‘server error’ one and the one on the second try with different pay method.

!the second domain isn’t showing in the domain option screen as well’

Thanks for getting back to me @Alenko2022 !

In some cases the domain may auto refund if there is a server error, however I cannot confirm if this would be the case with your domain purchases as I do not have access to your account.
