I am currently about to launch my store, everything else is ready only issue is I dont have an SSN, but I have an LLC registered in the USA with a well functioning checking account. Someone said they can go through a manual verification of my Business registration document and EIN. The issue is I have raised a ticket to resolve this with the Tax team on shopify but they are taking forever to even review of contact me. Is anyone in same situation or has experience such? pls advice.
Hi, @sealom !
Thanks for your post. You are correct that if you don’t have an SSN or ITIN, your application to use Shopify Payments USA must be manually reviewed by our merchant tax team. Their turnaround time is longer than normal due to a large number of requests. It’s with the right team, it will just take more time. Thank you for understanding.
Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Thank you for your response.
I have been waiting and it makes me think they are never going to attend to my request..I will keep waiting.
Thank you for your patience and understanding, @sealom ! Their response times are definitely longer than normal, so I understand not being sure you’ll hear back, but rest assured they’ll get to your request as soon as they can. At any point you can reach back out to us through the Help Center and we can confirm if your ticket is still in the queue.
Thank you again!
I went to see if the ticket is still active and the status says Escalated. Thats how its been from day 1
Thank you for checking that! If the status is escalated, that means it’s in the queue where it should be. You’ll receive an update as soon as possible.
Thanks again for working with me on this!
Hello @sealom Did you manage to get it sorted out? How long did it take? For me it’s more than a week now.
@sealom I have the same situation, how did you contact the sales team for manual verification and has this been resolved now?
Hi, @chuka007 .
Thanks for joining this thread.
We’ve recently changed our process for cases like these. Previously, our Merchant Tax Support team can manually review a merchant’s information and documents for those that are wanting to use Shopify Payments in a region where they aren’t located. This process has now been deprecated, which means that if a merchant would like to use Shopify Payments in any region, they’ll need to meet all the requirements listed for that specific region and be able to fill out all the fields of the Shopify Payments onboarding form.
The reason for this is because Shopify Payments account requirements are region-specific, so in order for a merchant to be eligible they’ll need to provide valid personal and business registration information for the region that they’ve signed up for.
So if you’re looking to apply for a Shopify Payments account, it’s important to be aware of the documents that may be required for the region that you’re applying for, in order to provide accurate information to help complete your account verification process.
