Can I operate my Shopify account from UAE or UK and sell in Canada?

Actually, one of my brothers is in the UAE, and the other is in the UK.

Now, I have two options:

  1. Operate the account from the UAE and sell in Canada.
  2. Operate the account from the UK and sell in Canada.

I don’t want to register as a private limited company. What I want is to operate the store from there and handle logistics work from Pakistan. For instance, if I receive an order on the UK or UAE store, then I will send the product from Pakistan to Canada.

The issue with the UK is that you have to be a private limited company, and the taxes are higher if you are an employee. Both of my brothers are employed.

On the other hand, the UAE is a tax-free country, so it provides a significant advantage to work from there. However, does a UAE PayPal account work with Shopify?

Question: Can I sell in Canada from the UAE or UK with UAE PayPal credentials? If yes, then how? Please explain.

Shopify cannot advise on optimal tax setups for your store, or what you can or can’t do from a tax perspective when selling from the regions you’ve mentioned. If you are unsure of what is possible then we’d always recommend speaking with a tax consultant who can offer advice. In terms of PayPal, you should speak to them directly about the requirements for setting up a merchant account in a certain country. They may require things such as proof of residency but this can only be confirmed with PayPal.
