I am from Egypt and 1 Egyptian pound = 30 dollars. When I pay for the website plan, I pay in Egyptian the equivalent of a dollar, meaning if the subscription is 1 dollar, can I pay 30.90 Egyptian pounds because I do not have a bank account in dollars?
Thanks for reaching out here for help - welcome the Shopify Community.
I understand that you would like to pay for your Shopify bill in Egyptian pounds instead of USD, due to not having a bank account in USD.
Paying for your Shopify bill in your local currency is only is available for merchants who are located in the United Kingdom, India, Canada, Singapore, Australia, and European Union countries where the Euro is the official currency. For all other countries and regions (including Egypt), Shopify bills will be issued in USD.
You don’t necessarily need to have a bank account in USD, however in order to pay for your Shopify bill, you would need to use a valid credit card (or co-branded debit card) from Mastercard, Visa, or American Express. There’s a few other requirements for the payment method including the following:
- Your credit card needs to allow for recurring payments.
- The card must have international capabilities.
If you aren’t sure of the capabilities of your payment method, then I would recommend contacting your bank/financial institution that issued the card for assistance. They will be the best equipped to explain how you can obtain a valid payment method based on the above requirements.
You mentioned that the subscription is $1. It sounds like you are just signing up to a free trial perhaps? I would love to know what sort of products you will sell on your new store. Are you just starting out with a brand new business?
