Hi, I would appreciate it if someone could help me with this. Recently I moved to Japan from Canada, so I made my Shopify store available to people in Canada and Japan. However, the problem is that I still have my Canadian debit card as my payment method. So if someone from Japan buys a product on my website with Yen, is it still possible for me to receive the payment with my Canadian debit card? Thanks.
The currency that your customers use to pay (Yen) for their orders can be different from the currency of your payouts from Shopify Payments (CAD). That is, your store currency can be different from the currency of your bank account. You can learn more about how you can sell and get paid in different currencies from our help guide here.
If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.
Hi @Dirk , thanks for replying to my question! So, in conclusion, I can not receive the Yen with my Canadian debit card? When I go to my settings on my Shopify account, it seems like I can only have one payment option. If so, how can I receive the Japanese Yen? Thanks
You can charge in a different currency than what you get paid out in. However, if you have a Canadian bank account setup it’s going to convert the sales you made in Yen into CAD. You can open a separate bank account that accepts YEN currency, but then you have to manage both accounts and move your funds between them.
If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.
@PNPLEX There is a Foreign Exchange rate that is applied to the currency conversion when you get paid out from YEN to CAD. You can access the FX rate for orders in the order timeline, if you expand the line item with the payout information.
