Can I See Which Customers are Using Which Discount Code?

Hi everyone,

We run a number of discount codes on our Shopify store. Is there a way that we can see exactly which customers are using which discount codes, without viewing each order separately?

June here from Shopify - thanks for your question!

If you’re wanting to know exactly who has been using each discount, you can take a look at your Sales by discount report. You’ll find this report one of two ways:

  • From your individual discount page in your admin, visit Summary > View sales by discount report, or
  • Visit Analytics > Reports > Sales > Sales by discount.

Once there, you have the option of viewing one discount at a time, if you select Manage filters and then, for example “Discount code is equal to ____”. What you’ll definitely want to do is edit your report to show you which customer has used each discount. To do this, select Edit columns and choose Customer name. Feel free to play around with these columns to your liking!

Depending on your plan, you may see the option to Save report in which case you can create a custom report with your saved criteria to refer to at any time.

Sadly, I cannot see the Sales by discount report. Is it possible that this report isn’t available at my (Basic) subscription level?

Hey @hammerroasting , you’re absolutely right.

We have a breakdown of reports that are available on each plan here if you’re curious. In the meantime though, if the Basic plan is fulfilling all of your other needs, I’m a big fan of apps such as Better Reports and Advanced Reports! I would absolutely recommend exploring these.
