Can I switch to a basic plan if I can't afford my current one?

Hi,
What to do if I do not have enough funds to pay for my plan? Am I able to change to a basic plan and pay for it instead of paying for the old one?

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. I’m happy to provide some guidance on this request, to ensure it gets resolved. To confirm I’m fully understanding, are you able to share what plan you’re currently on?

In situations like these, we have a few options that you can look into. If you’d like to temporarily step away from your shop, we offer the Pause and Build plan. This plan allows your store to run at a reduced fee of $9 USD/monthly. It provides you with access to your Shopify admin, but your checkout is deactivated. This means that customers can review your products, but they can’t purchase them. To learn more about this plan and how you can downgrade, please check out our Pausing Your Store document.

Alternatively, you can look into deactivating your store. This cancels your subscription and removes your access to the Shopify admin. While it may seem extreme, it will ensure that no future charges will occur. You do however, have the option to re-open your store at any point, as your store’s information is guaranteed for 2 years.
