Can I test orders during the 14-day trial period?

Hi all,

There is an error like below when I try to buy an item in my site.

I set my site and chose payment gateway with Bogus, but did not choose any plan yet(I’m on 14-day trial).

Should I choose one of any plans in Shopify to test my order?

I want to know if there is any way that can place an order on 14 day trial version.

Thanks.

Hi @daniel-lee

Thank you so much for your question!

Please kindly pick a plan so that you can proceed further step with your store function :slightly_smiling_face:

Hey, @daniel-lee ! Welcome to Shopify Community!

I’m glad to know you’ve thought of creating a test order! It’s a great way to fine-tune the order process and customer experience in your store. If you’re wondering if there’s anything else you need to set up or check before you launch, we’ve got a list of things on this page we recommend doing before you publish your store and start making sales.

Now about placing the test order - you’re absolutely right. You need to select a plan before you’re able to access and test the checkout. If you’re still on your 14-day free trial period, selecting a plan will prompt you to enter your credit card details but you won’t be charged yet. Your first billing cycle will only begin once your trial ends and that’s the time an invoice will be incurred.

The Basic plan is a good start, however, if you’re considering any of the other plans and need help deciding, don’t hesitate to let me know and I’ll help you out. Feel free to have a look at our pricing plan should you need to see a comparison of our plans.

@Summer

Thanks for your kind explanation, I understand I must choose plan first to try test order with my credit card information. After testing, cancel the plan before 14 trial days ended(is it possible?), there won’t be any charge.

My pleasure, @daniel-lee ! That’s correct. If you cancel your subscription before the 14-day free trial ends, you will not be charged. You’re welcome to refer to the guide on cancelling your subscription below.

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Plan.
  2. Click Pause or deactivate store.
  3. Click Deactivate store.
  4. Select a reason for the deactivation, and then click Continue.
  5. Enter your password, and then click Deactivate now.

Please note your store information is guaranteed for 2 years, so you can reopen your store and pick up where you left off if you decide to move forward with it.

Are you just testing our platform? If so, are there any particular features you’re looking for?
