I’m trying to open a store on Shopify but my card is being rejected. I am trying to use a debit card from Mastercard. Is this why?

You can open and develop your store without adding card or purchasing any plan. For purchasing a plan, if your payment method is okay then you can contact with Shopify support .

With regards to your inquiry, please refer to this help document as it goes over all accepted forms of payment when it comes to your Shopify bill. Please read over the information as it explains why some payments cannot be accepted as well as providing other ways that you can pay for your plan and bill.
As per the document linked above, you can use a debit card that is co‑branded with Mastercard, Visa, or American Express. If you use a co‑branded debit card to pay your Shopify bills, then it must meet the following requirements:
- The card must have international capabilities.
- The card must be set up to accept recurring transactions.
If your co‑branded debit card doesn’t have these capabilities or if you’re not sure, then you must contact the financial institution that issued the card for assistance.
