Can I use a PO Box address instead of a residential address as an individual?

Topic summary

An individual seller asks if they can list a PO Box (Post Office Box) instead of their home address during shop registration, despite the form instructing them to use a residential address.

One response says a PO Box should be fine, but cautions to verify with shipping carriers. Some carriers may charge extra for pickups from PO Boxes or residential addresses, or may not offer pickups at those locations.

As an alternative, major carriers (UPS, FedEx, DHL) can arrange pickups from a nearby Pickup Location and sometimes offer discounted rates. Using the carrier’s Pickup Location address is suggested.

Status: No definitive confirmation of platform policy was provided. The requirement to use a residential address remains unresolved; the practical next steps are to check carrier pickup policies and consider a carrier Pickup Location address.

Hi,

I can’t seem to find anyone asking about this, I’m registering my shop as an individual but I don’t want to use my residential address. Could I use a PO Box address instead? Although it specifically says to use a residential address?

Thanks in advance!

hi @rosieposie I completely agree with @Venlohbwo . I can’t think of any issues with using a PO Box address. I would also recommend you check with your shipping carrier as some carriers might charge extra for a pickup from a PO. Box address or a residential address, or in worst cases, might not offer a pickup for the same. Popular carriers like UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc. also offer pickups from a Pickup Location near your business address and even provide discounted shipping if you opt for that. You can reach out to them and opt for the Pickup Location Address instead as well.
