Can I use staff accounts as seller accounts?

Hello,

I need this feature in my online store: I will have an admin account with permissions to manage everything of course, while I will have multiple sellers that will have a “seller account”, with limited permissions such as: editing and uploading products, edit seller page… kind of like a marketplace of several sellers, each with its own products. The customers will be able to browse the whole store, or go into a specific seller page.

My question is can I achieve this functionality through Shopify?

I had these ideas:

  • Staff accounts - is it possible to limit their permissions in the way I described above?
  • Shopify App - maybe there is an app fit for my case
  • Custom coding using Liquid - I am a software developer so it won’t be very hard for me to learn, I just don’t know if it is possible

You can definitely use staff permissions to gate things off to just what applies to their work: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/your-account/staff-accounts/staff-permissions

You could sort of do individual pages by setting aside Collections for each seller. They wouldn’t be able to do much visual customizing, but then you wouldn’t want them to or else the site would look like a weird patchwork.
