Can product recommendations be gender-specific on my site?

Hello,

Is it possible that the proposed products on the product page are suitable in my shop? This means that men only get these suggested products and no products for women and vice versa.

When it comes to product recommendations, it usually becomes more accurate as new orders and product data become available. In fact, the algorithm uses these pointers to decide what products that are relevant:

  • Purchase history - Finds products that have historically been purchased together.
  • Product description - Finds products with similar descriptions.
  • Related collections - Finds products from collections that the current products is part of, excluding collections with handles all and front page.

There’s more information in our guide to recommendation logic. As explained in that guide, these are the following limitations:

  • You can’t customize the recommendation algorithm to exclude specific products. However, you can choose which of the returned products to show with JavaScript.
  • The recommendation algorithm doesn’t use orders that have been imported from another store or eCommerce platform to generate product recommendations.
  • Products that are out of stock, or set to a price of 0, and gift cards, aren’t included in recommendations.

Hey,

I had the same issue initially when I installed some random product recommendation app. I have forgotten the name even lol.

But I think you can fix it by recommending a personalized product with help of Wiser. They use AI to understand your purchase behavior, your gender and recommend products backed by data.

There was a time when my customers were recommended irrelevant products and sales through cross-selling at all. Wiser seems to do the legwork for me so far and has also given results.

Here is another way you can deliver related items for each product page.

  1. Create specific collection which only points to specific set of products e.g. men and women

  2. install Ci product recommendation app https://apps.shopify.com/customer-intelligence

  3. Activate theme app extension: https://ci.doc.zapyan.com/integrations/shopify/activate-widget

  4. Create campaign

    1. step 1: select your destination by choosing product page and collection e.g. mens
    2. step 2: select your target by choosing related items and filter by collection mens
    3. step 3: select design which is suitable for your store
