We’re looking for a way to customize what info gets included when we click “Export PDF” on a purchase order.
Is there a way to change what gets generated, the same way we can customize packing slips with the “Edit packing slip template” setting?
Short answer: no — the purchase order “Export PDF” isn’t templatable the way packing slips are. There’s no “Edit purchase order template” equivalent in admin, so you can’t control which fields land in that generated PDF. Workarounds merchants use: export the PO data to CSV and build your own document, or use a dedicated PO/inventory app from the App Store that offers custom PO layouts. It’s worth posting the specific fields you want to add or remove under the product-feedback tag so it’s on the team’s radar.

As far as I know, Shopify doesn’t currently offer the same template editor for Purchase Order PDFs that it provides for packing slips. The Export PDF format is largely controlled by Shopify. If you need a customized PO layout, you’d likely need a third party purchasing/inventory app or generate the PO through another system.
Right now PO export is PDF only — there’s no native CSV option. There’s an open feature request for CSV/XLS export on POs if you want to add your vote, that’s probably the fastest path to it actually shipping.

Shopify does not have an equivalent “Edit purchase order template ” option for the built-in Export PDF at this time. The PDF layout and the fields are managed by Shopify, you cannot directly choose what information is shown. If you want your own format, a reasonable workaround is to export the purchase order data and generate your own printable template using those fields, alllowing you to decide which columns and details you want include.
