Can Shopify handle reseller acccounts?

I’m looking for a solution to allow individual sales reps to have their own product listing from the main catalog and make them available to their customers through a login or unique URL.

For example, sales rep Joe wants to sell products A, B, C to his customer1. And he would like to sell products D, E, F, to customer2.

Customer1 would only be able to see products ABC and customer2 would only be able to see products D, E, F.

I envision cutomer1 or 2 going to main website, logging in and then being redirected to sales rep Joe’s product listings.

Does this make sense and does Shopify offer this capability through apps or would it require a custom solution?

So Shopify does not have this feature built in natively but there is an app available that should provide this feature for you. See https://apps.shopify.com/multi-vendor-marketplace. This is an app we actually investigated as part of a project inquiry. Although the project never went through, this app seemed to check most of the boxes needed to offer a marketplace-style site.
