Can Shopify POS App Mimic In-Store Custom Cake Ordering Process?

We’ve really had a tough time trying to get the Shopify POS app to work as we’d like. At this point, we’d like to ask if anyone has the ability to have it function like our In-Store POS currently does.

Just to give you an idea:

A customer will walk up to our counter to order a custom cake. We start by checking if they are in our system. If they are, then we select that customer and begin the process. If they are not, we then add their information to get them into our system. We then go into the order process. This involves selecting a cake size, filling, icing, toppings, custom writing on the cake, etc. We also take a deposit, set a date/time for pickup or delivery. The customer sometimes also wants to buy something in the shop at the same time. So we add a couple products to their order and continue with the checkout process.

Do you think there is any way to make Shopify POS via the iPad App work in a very similar way to how our current POS operates?

The first part, adding the customer, sounds like it’s the same.

As far as the custom cake, all of those choices and add-ons (size, icing, etc.) can be implemented by using variants.

I don’t know if there’s a way to accept a deposit (partial payment) and set a delivery time, other than to add it to the notes.
