Can Shopify provide discounts for specific payment methods?

Hi,

If a customer chooses any prepaid method of payment then he will get a discount. is there any provision in Shopify?

I know at the moment it is not possible to provide a discount or added fee based on the payment method being used by your customers.

What I can do for you from here though is to file a request for this functionality with our developer team, so that they’re aware this is something our merchants are looking for.

If you can share any other info on why this is important for your business, that will help me to file a more accurate request on your behalf.

Can you tell me a bit more about how you’re looking to implement this for your business, so we can check for any possible workarounds or alternatives you can look at?

Could you tell me a bit more about your business in general and anything else you’re working on?

Please, Add this feature as this feature is very very important for us merchants to set payment method-based discounts. Every CMS is offering this feature. It’s been years since we have been demanding this feature.

Hi is this feature still not available?

It’s important because it allows us to provide special offers through alliances with banks for example. If a customer pays with a credit card from a specific bank, the store offers 20% discount and the bank assumes the cost for 10% of the total discount. But If I launch the deal alone I can´t make it 20%

This is just an example of so many strategies that can be applied.

Hi! We recently encountered the same issue with some of our customers. The challenge was this: they wanted to receive a 2% discount for paying via a normal bank transfer (paying in advance). We couldn’t find any app to achieve this goal, even among the more advanced and expensive discount apps.

So, we developed a custom app to make it possible for our merchants! It’s now up and running.

It will probably take some weeks for the deployment in the app store. also some functions are only available for Plus merchants, if you are a plus merchant we can install it right now.

I need to offer discount for bitcoin payments via opennode, because I am happy when someone is willing to pay with sound money. I want to reward them.

It is no problem – if you have shopify plus. We installed the solution to multiple shops by now :blush:

It is because only Shopify Plus Merchants have all access to customize the checkout in Shopify. It is possible though, that one day everyone will have access. As soon as it is possible i will keep you posted on this thread.

Hi,

Now in 2023, it is possible to implement this using our free app Payment Customizations: PayMix.

You can setup a rule in PayMix to “Show specific payment methods and hide others” when the cart contains discount.

Here is a small video to see how the end effect would look like:

Hi, I tried this and it seems like it applies to any discount? Would it be possible to enable only one payment for only one discount?

Hi @Furnitreasure ,
Unfortunately no. The data about specific discount codes is not shared with the apps by Shopify at this point in time. So there is no way to know which discount code is being applied.
