Can someone check my store please

Hi

Could somene check my store out please I am getting visits but no sales, I have had sales but they’ve dropped off. I use Merchant Centre and search console and I have jus installed SEO Ant on a trial to see if optimising my images etc might help, I have been reading through these posts to see if there is anything else I can do unfortunately I am getting to the point where I’m thinking of closing my store as I can’t keep paying for it and not earning from it. Any help would be appreciated .

Hi @Debs

It’s great that you’re driving traffic to your store gentleblushes.co.uk and actively working on SEO improvements with tools like SEO Ant. If visits aren’t converting, here are some focused suggestions to help regain momentum and increase sales:

  • Enhance Product Pages:
Ensure your product images are high-quality and the descriptions clearly highlight benefits and features. Add strong calls to action and consider including customer reviews to build trust.

  • Boost Average Order Value:
Use apps like BiDeal Bundle Volume Discounts to offer bundle discounts that encourage customers to add more to their carts. Also, BiSell Upsell & Cross Sell can display personalized product suggestions on product and cart pages, nudging shoppers to buy related items.

  • Improve Checkout Experience:
Double-check that payment options are clearly displayed and the checkout is smooth without unexpected costs or friction.

  • Trust and Credibility:
Display trust badges, clear shipping/return policies, and if possible, testimonials or user-generated content.

  • Monitor Analytics & Test:
Use Google Analytics and Shopify reports to analyze where visitors drop off and test small changes like button colors, headlines, or offering limited-time discounts.

  • Consider Retargeting & Email Flows:
Set up abandoned cart emails and retargeting campaigns to recover visitors who didn’t purchase.

Closing a store is tough, but with targeted adjustments and leveraging upsell/bundle apps like BiDeal and BiSell, you might see improved conversions without needing to increase ad spend. Keep refining based on data and small wins can add up!

Wishing you the best. If you want, I can help with more detailed setup tips or app recommendations.

Hi

I have a review app installed but no reviews have been left, I have checked my checkout process all looks ok to me maybe I’m missing something. I do have footer links to shipping and return policies.

I have looked at Google Analytics and to me it looks like most visitors don’t go much further than the home page. I have abandoned cart emails set up as well. I don’t know

Hi Debs,

First off — don’t get discouraged. Many store owners go through exactly this stage where traffic comes in but conversions lag. A few things you can look at before deciding whether to continue:

1. Website / Storefront

  • Make sure the site feels trustworthy right away (clear logo, professional product photos, simple navigation).

  • Add social proof if possible — reviews, testimonials, or even customer photos help build confidence.

2. Product Pages

  • Your products (aroma lamps, burners, oils) are sensory items — try using more descriptive, benefit-driven language that paints the experience (“relaxing evening ritual,” “soothing fragrance for better sleep”) instead of just listing features.

  • Include multiple photos: product in use, lifestyle shots, and close-ups.

3. Conversions

  • Add urgency or incentives (limited-time discounts, free shipping thresholds, or bundles).

  • Make sure checkout is smooth and not asking for too much info.

4. Marketing

  • SEO tools like SEO Ant help long-term, but for quicker wins, consider social media (TikTok, Instagram Reels) showing your products in action.

  • Google Merchant Centre traffic is good, but often people browsing are still comparing. Retargeting ads (on Google or Facebook) can help bring them back.

  • Build an email list — offer a small discount for first-time buyers and nurture them with follow-up emails.

It might feel overwhelming, but your niche (aroma/sensory products) is definitely marketable. With a few tweaks to how you present and promote, you can turn those visits into more sales.

Don’t give up yet — you may just need to adjust the approach rather than close the store.

You should make your product image attractive & on product page let’s use some bundle discount as my recommendation above to get more attractive from users

Hi thank you for your response I do have a facebook page and have being thinking about making some videos of the some of the products that I have. I did try TikTok and initially got quite a few sales but also got violations and you have to post your products out quite quickly which I did but there ws always something I got a bad review because a oil I sold didn’t have a strong enough smell which to be honest wasn’t my fault I didn’t make the product and terms and conditions are constantly changing I couldn’t keep up. I have a referral programme as well but nobody has used this. I do have an instagram page as well which needs a bit more work. I also attend community events that I was going to put on the blog but you can only have 1 blog going so people really wouldn’t be able to follow the events I do, again that goes on facebook

@Debs The site needs a lot of work to feel more established and trustworthy. Try some other themes or hire someone to build something more user-friendly. The logo doesn’t communicate what your brand is about, I can’t understand it. Maybe stick with a text logo with a small emblem. The main hero banner is far too large and takes up the entire screen. Products should be visible before scrolling. What you are doing offsite is great, and you should continue doing those things. You can have multiple blogs on Shopify. Links to your social media profiles, where are they? Add some promotion like X% off fi you buy 2 more more products etc or 15% off your first purchase as banners to communicate this offer. It can get sales moving.

More than happy to give more input.

Hi there @Debs I have had a look at your store and here are a couple things I think are missing

  1. Categories such as best sellers, merchants’ picks, etc
  2. You mentioned you’ve made some sales so I was expecting to see a few customer reviews or testimonials on the homepage
I think with these two major additions, your store would look a lot better.

Hey @Debs

I took a look at your store, and you’ve clearly put a lot of work into it , it has potential. The main issue isn’t just traffic, it’s conversions. Here are a few things that can help:

  1. Homepage & Trust

    • Add clear trust signals: shipping/returns info, customer reviews, and secure checkout badges.

    • Right now, first-time visitors don’t immediately see why they should trust and buy.

  2. Product Pages

    • Make your product descriptions more benefit-focused (how it improves the buyer’s life, not just what it is).

    • Add lifestyle photos or short videos to create a stronger emotional connection.

  3. SEO & Google Merchant Center

    • SEO Ant will help with images, but also optimize product titles and meta descriptions so they match what people are searching for.

    • Check your Merchant Center feed for disapprovals even small errors can stop your products from showing properly.

  4. Conversion Boosters

    • Use urgency & social proof (low stock notices, “x people bought this today”).

    • Add a clear, standout CTA button (e.g., “Shop Now” in a bold color).

  5. Traffic Quality

    • If most of your traffic comes from broad searches or unqualified clicks, you’ll get visits but not sales. Tighten your ad targeting and focus on buyers who are more likely to convert.

:backhand_index_pointing_right: My suggestion: start by fixing the trust signals and product page content first. Once that’s in place, your ads and SEO efforts will convert much better.

Don’t give up yet your store has potential, it just needs a few strategic tweaks.

I woukd like to thank you all for your input I will take all your suggestions on board and try to implement them .what are clear trust signals: shipping/returns info, customer reviews, and secure checkout badges. Indo have shipping and returns info in my footer is this the right place for them. I also have returns and shipping messages from Google merchant centre saying this is not set up but its right there on the website . Thank you all for your time I appreciate it .

as other members have highlighted, your store’s design is as of now very basic. several things that i noticed and can be improved upon, include:

  1. to start off, this home page banner should be much more appealing. it should engage viewers in the first go and prompt them to explore your store further. also, the main hero image is blurry. that looks unprofessional and can turn away customers.

  1. the collections section on your home page has issues with the images being used. some of them have white backgrounds, while others are different and much more overloaded with elements. suggestion: go with consistent, high-quality images and backgrounds that align with your brand’s tone.

  1. focus on adding more social proof via customer reviews or testimonials. if your store is new and you don’t have reviews, then prioritize them. that’s because it will help other customers trust your brand and items more.
  2. coming to product pages, use additional images. showcase your product from different angles. also, highlight its key features or benefits in an easy-to-scan format with bullets. that will allow customers to understand the item quickly and make faster purchasing decisions. i would even say add faqs and answer some of the common questions are your products. that will also help smoothen the buying journey of shoppers.

i would say, go through Shopify’s blogs on best store designs and product page examples. that will provide you with a lot of insights, and empower you to improve your store further.

Hi @Debs ,
I had a look at your homepage and product pages. You’ve done a great job getting everything set up with Merchant Centre, Search Console, and even testing SEO apps. Since you mentioned traffic but no recent sales, here are a few things that might help:

1. Store Design & First Impressions

  • The homepage banner looks clean, but you might want to add a short headline or value proposition (e.g. “Handmade Aromatherapy Products – Natural, Affordable, Sustainable”). Right now it’s mostly just the image.
  • Your product photos are clear, but on collection pages some items could benefit from more consistent lighting/size to give a professional feel.

2. Product Page Optimization

  • The beard oil page has good descriptions, but the text is very long and pushes the “Add to Cart” button down the page. Consider shorter bullet points at the top, with details further down.
  • Adding product reviews or testimonials would really help build trust.
  • Highlight shipping info, delivery times, or guarantees near the Add to Cart button – customers often abandon if they’re unsure about cost/timing.

3. Conversions & Trust Signals

  • I didn’t see any social proof (reviews, “as seen in…”, or customer photos). These can make a big difference.
  • A pop-up or banner with a discount for first-time buyers could help convert traffic.
  • Your footer has policies which is good, but you could add badges (secure checkout, payment methods, etc.) closer to the cart/checkout for reassurance.

4. Marketing & Traffic Quality

  • If traffic is coming mostly from Google Shopping/Merchant Centre, check if your keywords are too broad. Sometimes people click without intent to buy.
  • Retargeting ads or email capture (like “Sign up for 10% off”) could bring visitors back.
  • Try promoting specific collections (like “Beard Care” or “Candles”) in ads instead of sending everyone to the homepage.

5. SEO & Content

  • SEO Ant might help with images, but also think about blog posts that target “how to” searches (e.g. “Best essential oils for relaxation”) to bring in organic visitors who are interested in your products.
  • Internal linking between products and blog posts helps both SEO and conversions.

Thank you for your reply

I have thought the same about the banner image for a while now and I am.unsure what to have I usually ask my son to design me something.

I see what you mean with the product images on the main page I never noticed that before

I will look at all your suggestions and see what I can do.

Thank you

Hi @Debs

I can feel what you said here and it indeed feels frustrating. I would like to share you more suggestions and ideas after checking your store. Let’s see if they can make your store perform better.

  1. There is no announcement bar on your store. You can choose to add one, as it can display store current activities and offer latest discounts or guidances to let users stay longer, so that can raise your sales and conversions in some ways.

  2. Pay attention to the length of meta title and meta description. Your store meta title and meta description contents are excessive and need to be shortened under proper length, or they fail to display completely in search results on Google. The recommended length for meta title and meta description is 50–70 characters and 120–200 characters. I can feel that they will perform better after optimizing.

  3. Some product images are lack of alt texts. This part refers to one of the elements which most customers will ignore or miss when optimizing store page contents. I can give you one example from one of product pages(7.5cm Vampire Tears Pillar Candle) and all the three images are missing Alt texts, better add them properly from Shopify backend.

In conclusion, the store overall content is very attractive, but still need to further optimize for the content behind web pages and make code contents more readable in the eye of search bots like Google. You can have a test by using SEOAnt to monitor store SEO status and get more SEO advice on product pages. I believe when you fully optimize store contents and meet SEO standard in a higher degree, the store will get better feedback on conversions and sales both. Cheers!

Hi

What is Alt text and where and how do you put it on. I might be naive here but I thought with shopify you added your images and descriptions and that was all you had to do I have absolutely no idea about website building, designing etc I am learning as I go but it seems there are more things than I realised that you have to do

Hi @Debs,

Adding to all the great feedback here, I just have one thought. As a new visitor to your site, I read your “About Us” page and honestly had a hard time understanding your specific advantage over other sellers.

My suggestion would be to consider focusing less on broad SEO or general clicks, and more on a specific niche audience that truly needs your products. By building deep trust with that core group, you can turn them into “power users” who spread the word for you. That’s the classic way startups go from 0 to 1.

Hi @Debs

Thank you for raising this question here at first. It is normal to have no idea what is Alt text, especially when you are unfamiliar with store SEO. Alt text refers to descriptive text for an image to convey the meaning. It can help search engines like Google understand image content to boost SEO.

You can check if image alt text is added by clicking the uploaded images from Shopify admin page. If the option of alt text is empty, that means you have not added alt text properly and the way to add it is based on image description with product keyword included.

Hey @Debs,

I took a look at your store and a few things stood out. If your store is mainly about fragrances, candles, and incense, it’s a bit unclear why a product like beard oil is there, it can confuse visitors and dilute your brand story. The “why” factor is missing too; when someone comes to your store, they should immediately understand why they should buy from you and what makes your products special.

Product descriptions could also be more engaging and designed to capture attention. I noticed that you have products that could be upsold or cross-sold, but there’s no slide cart to make that seamless. A progress bar could help guide customers through their purchase. Bundling complementary products is another tactic that often helps increase sales.

On the SEO side, focusing on the basics first, meta titles, descriptions, headings, and image optimization, can go a long way. If you want a smooth way to handle upsells, cross-sells, bundles, and even a progress bar without installing multiple apps, all-in-one tools like iCart can help improve conversions while keeping the experience simple and user-friendly for your visitors.

Thank you I will have a look at that
Regards
Debs

Thank you for your reply I will remove the beard oil, it is something I sell on my stall and I totally see where you’re coming from with that.
What is a slide cart, I am looking at doing cross selling but at present I seem to have things wrong with my site things just seem to being belly up at the minute . I’m getting this message on most of my products that I wasn’t getting before Mismatched domains [link] in [Shopping_ads] [GB]. I’ve googled this and it says to do with merchant centre but some of these products haven’t been added there yet. I don’t know I don’t have a deal of experience with website and even though I’m putting a lot of effort in I’m feeling a bit bogged down at the minute. I have added SEO Ant to see if that helps but can’t keep adding things due to cost. I’ll keep going for now.
Thanks for your advice I will take a look at your recommendations
