Can store owners comment on blog reader's comments?

I have a client who has recently added a blog to her Shopify store. She knows how to manage the posts (approving them and deactivating them), but she wants the ability to be able to comment on her reader’s comments. I haven’t been able to find any help articles. Is this possible? Thank you in advance.

Hi, @bev4515

Thanks for reaching out about this. At this time, commenting on visitors’ comments is not an available feature through the natural Shopify admin. There is another thread on this topic linked here in the Community. I will certainly share your feedback with our developers about this topic, the more feedback we receive the better.

As Rae mentions in the thread, the best way available for replying to blog comments is to go directly onto your site from your URL and visit your blog as a visitor and reply to the comment by using the field directly below the comment to enter a reply.

Outside of this, your client could instal a third party app to help manage their blog comments. These apps can also be helpful for comment notifications. For example, Sunny - Blog Comment Manager.

Let me know if you have any further questions!

That’s very helpful. Thank you.

So it’s not super helpful. And, in fact, is one of the reasons I will probably leave Shopify and go to work press later this year. For small businesses, evergreen content and communication with their clients is an important feature. As well as having options for promotions within the blog. Neither of which appear to be offered via Shopify.

@lara9209 Evergreen content is crucial to business growth, which is why it is essential to regularly produce good quality content that receives plenty of traction.

While I cannot confirm if or when feedback will be implemented, I shall pass on your feedback to our developers internally as Hilary did because you’re absolutely right, engaging with your customers on a blog would be super helpful! And using the equivalent to Adsense on your store would be a great feature too.

One possible workaround would be to link a WordPress blog as a menu item on your store. That would connect the best of both worlds: the ease of your Shopify store’s e-commerce functions, and the content flexibility of WordPress. It would also mean that you wouldn’t need to start a new store either!

What is your marketing strategy for your store? What kind of tools are you leveraging? Are you live yet?
