We’ve been using Shopify Plus for a number of years. When we first started we were very grateful for the Shopify Status page. It helped us understand platform wide performance that could be impacting our store. It kept a running technical record (a heartbeat actually) of server/system uptime and any anomalies or disruption events. This is a normal level of transparency that aided Shopify store owners and managers. It was one tool in discerning an overall picture of store health.
Somewhere along the way Shopify decided to discontinue this kind of normal transparency, replacing the Status Page with a sort of temporary notification system that shows disruption events, keeps a record for a very short time, and then flushes all records of past events. We now have to use third party services (StatusGator, DownDetector.com, etc) to monitor the Shopify Status page or to discern when system wide technical events are impacting our store. If Shopify wants to be on the forefront of commerce/ecommerce why has their Status Page become so useless? Is anyone else bothered by this lack of transparency? Make the Shopify Status Page great again! Leave a comment or like if you agree.
